如果一个以太网组件，甚至整个部分坏掉时，往往会导致机器停止，因此不可避免地生产被停止。正是为了防止这类事件，MICROSENS开发了一种机制（正在申请专利），如果发生错误，可以使以太网网络毫秒内重新配置。如果一个组件或连接失败，所有其他节点仍可通过以太网（快速冗余）智能环形拓扑结构传输。
这些交换机被配置为适合这个特殊的操作。除了用于工业交换机的两个100Base-FX光纤连接，MICROSENS工业交换机还提供了4 个10/100Base-TX 连接，用于以太网终端，如控制端和其他网络参与者。
